St James’ Place appoints Jupiter to run Cautious Fund << Back

Jupiter has been appointed to manage a new fund for St James's Place.

The SJP/Jupiter Cautious Fund, which was launched on 8th January 2007, combines the talents of four Jupiter fund managers - Ian McVeigh, Alex Darwall, Elena Shaftan and John Hamilton - with overall asset allocation set by St James's Place.

The Fund will sit in the ABI Cautious Managed sector, which allows a maximum exposure to equities of 60%. The equity portfolio will be split between UK and European equities, and shall seek to achieve a balance of 40% in UK equities, managed by Ian McVeigh, 10% in the Jupiter European Fund, managed by Alex Darwall, and 5% in the Jupiter Emerging European Opportunities Fund, managed by Elena Shaftan. The fixed income element of the portfolio will, initially, have a mix of UK government and corporate bonds, managed by John Hamilton.

Charlie Crole, Institutional Client Director at Jupiter, said: "We are delighted to have joined forces with St James's Place to launch this fund. These four managers have excellent reputations and combining their talents in this way creates an exceptionally strong investment approach for clients of St James's Place."

Andrew Humphries, Divisional Director, Asset Management, at St James's Place, said: "Jupiter has a tremendous track record as a fund manager and we believe that combining the talents of the Group's UK and European equity managers with fixed interest securities, will provide clients with a lower risk investment that provides the opportunity for equity-based returns over the longer term."
