Philip Ehrmann appointed to Jupiter << Back

Jupiter is delighted to announce the appointment of Philip Ehrmann as a Fund Manager of the new China fund.

Philip, who joins Jupiter's Far East desk in October, will be responsible for managing a China equity unit trust which Jupiter plans to launch later in the year subject to FSA authorisation.

Philip has specialised as an emerging markets fund manager for more than 16 years, most recently at Gartmore Investment Management. For the past six years he has been employed as Head of Pacific & Emerging Markets, running a variety of portfolios, including Gartmore's Pacific Opportunities and China Opportunities funds in addition to a hedge fund and institutional mandates. Before that he worked as Head of Global Emerging Markets for five years. Prior to joining Gartmore in 1995, he worked as head of emerging markets at Invesco.

Edward Bonham Carter, joint chief executive of Jupiter Asset Management, said: "The emerging economies of Asia and, in particular China, are exerting an increasing influence over the global economy and we are delighted to have attracted Philip to work with Simon Somerville and Ben Surtees on the Far East desk. He has an excellent track record of managing money in this area and is a valuable addition to our team."

Philip Ehrmann said: "Jupiter's pedigree as a performance house is renowned in the fund management industry. I am delighted to have this opportunity to build on the success it has already had in Emerging Europe and Japan and help create a world-class reputation for managing assets in Asia and other emerging markets".

"The launch of a China fund is key to this development. China's emergence as a significant force on the global economic stage has been one of the dominant investment themes of recent years and the opportunities for investors to make strong gains here over the medium to long term remain excellent."
