Emma Howard Boyd, Jupiter's head of Socially Responsible Investment, has joined the Government's Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance.
This Commission has been set up by the Rt Hon David Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Rt Hon Alistair Darling MP, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, to investigate the likely growth of global markets in environmental goods and services over the next 20 years and identify how best the UK can exploit these opportunities.
The Commission, whose members have been chosen to represent a diverse range of interests, will make recommendations for actions by Government and business that could stimulate the growth of productivity and employment in the UK's environmental goods and services sectors and other sectors that make a significant contribution to environmental outcomes.
The Commission intends to report its recommendations to the Government by Spring 2007.
Emma Howard Boyd said: "The world must move to a low carbon economy and the government has shown a clear commitment to achieving this.
"The business community is increasingly recognising the growth opportunities represented by this change and I am delighted to be working with other members of the Commission to create the right environment in which UK businesses can become global market leaders."
